Ole died on March 11, 1958 at the age of 66, it
was a tragedy. But Godfred held his head up
high just like his father and kept on trying and
made success in the Lego company. Now
Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen( Godfred’s son) is the
president and CEO of Lego.
Types of legos
The most common types of Legos are 2x2s,
2x4s, 1x1s, 2x1s, 2x3s, 1x3s, 1x4s, 1x6s, and
2x6s. Legos can also be different colors, they
are usually red, blue, yellow, green, black, and
white. Sometimes they are orange, pink,
purple, light blue, light green, and gray.

Legos can be different shapes and sizes.
They can be round or shaped like objects
such as a fence, a roof or a garbage can.
These Legos might come in special Lego kits
from the Lego store. Some Examples of a kit
would be a Treehouse kit. It would also be
useful it you had a lego separator to help
separate the bricks if you can’t take them
apart.

How it started
A man named Ole Kirk Kristiansen who was
carpenter started the company by making
wooden toys. Soon he thought the company
needed a name. He chose Lego which
originated from the Danish word leg-godt,
which means play well.
While one of Ole’s sons, Godfred became
interested in his work and started to help him
with it. Soon after that Ole went to a
convention and saw a plastic molding
machine, then he bought it. At first they made
little teddy bears but soon he started making
little bricks you could build amazing things
with them. But there was a problem, the bricks

used to only be 2x2s, 2x4s, and 2x3s.
But now there are many types of Legos,even
million! Lego started in 1949 so Lego has
really changed over the 82 years of Lego’s
history.
There are many brands of Legos that appeal
to different tastes. There are kits for kids of
younger ages too. There is Duplo for younger
children ages 3-4. The difference is Duplo is 8
