ub West Scotland is familiar with glit-
tering awards ceremonies. The “hub”,
one of five public-private ventures
overseeing specific geographical re-
gions, works in partnership to manage, design
and construct facilities which provide services
to local communities such as schools, health
centres, leisure centre and offices.
Since the Scottish Property Awards was set
up in 2014, the organisation has successfully
achieved top prizes for the developments it
has supported and project managed every year.
2017 is no different. Completed in the summer
last year, Eastwood Health and Care Centre has
been shortlisted in the public sector “Develop-
ment of the Year” category.
It’s a project that Partnerships Director An-
geline Robertson says was “really interesting”
to be involved with. The development saw a
“reference design” by Hoskins Architects con-
structed by contractor Morgan Sindall. Over-
seen from pre-construction through construc-
tion, hub West Scotland worked in partnership
with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and
East Renfrewshire Council.

The reference design provided a benchmark
for “excellent, sustainable and good value design”,
a key ambition for the public-private organisa-
tion which, through its performance managed
supply chain, was able to drive efficiencies, value
and best practice. It now serves as a reference
model for future primary healthcare centres.
