SCOTT DIXON RACING OPEN MORNING FOREWORD BY SIMON MAPLETOFT What a pleasure it is to once again be hosting Scott’s annual Open Morning and Yearling Parade. I’m sure that, like me, you will enjoy meeting some familiar names for the forthcoming All-Weather Championships as well as some exciting new recruits for the 2017 Flat Season. As one of the youngest trainers in the country, Scott has done particularly well to establish himself in such a highly competitive game since taking out his license only four years ago. Indeed, since taking over at Haygarth House Scott has earned a reputation for getting the very best out of older horses whilst showing a true talent for nurturing young thoroughbreds, too. All-Weather specialists like Even Stevens and Sir Geoffrey, notable turf winners such as Sacrosanctus, Thunderball and Askaud and Brocklesby Stakes winning two-year-old Cock Of The North are all testament to the all round skills of Scott and his team. Statistics are always revealing and illustrate Scott’s impressive record at a number of racecourses including his most local, Doncaster, where 10 winners have yielded a level stakes profit of 45.25, and Beverley, where he has returned a 19pts profit. Epsom, the home of the Derby, has also proven a happy hunting ground with a 23% strike rate yielding a 29pts return. On the All-Weather, Scott has enjoyed most of his success at his local track Southwell and will have his sights set on achieving his 50th winner on the Fibresand this winter. Indeed, his runners there in the 2015/16 All-Weather season rewarded their followers with a level stakes profit of 22.95. Scott’s achievements on the track are underpinned by a genuine interest in making racehorse ownership as exciting and rewarding as possible for everyone involved at Haygarth House. Whether you own horses outright or only have a small share, there’s always a warm welcome. That welcome is extended to all of you here this morning and I hope you enjoy being in the company of Scott, his equally dedicated Mum and Dad Yvette and Paul and the whole team ahead of what promises to be another exciting year.
