Folklore

Romanian folklore is very rich and diverse. However, nowadays it is mostly preserved in the countryside.

There are many villages that still follow the traditions and live their lives in an archaic way. On holidays they wear the traditional costumes and organize gatherings where they dance to Romanian folk music.

A very traditional Romanian dance is the “Hora”. In this dance, people join hands to form a circle and dance around. It is still present at every important family event such as weddings.

Also, a specific Romanian folk music is the “Doina”. Doina is a type of music that usually expresses strong feelings such as love, missing somebody, sadness and so on.
