Academic Quality

In most of the hospitals and departments, students are allowed to participate actively during their clerkship. There are cases however, when they are only allowed to observe.

During your exchange you will be asked to bring along your Students’ Logbook. Usually you will have to ask your tutor to sign it everyday during the month. At the end of the exchange, this will be the proof that you have attended at least 80% of your clerkship. Attending at least 80% of the clerkship is an essential requirement in order for you to receive your certificate.

In some of the LCs, besides the clerkship, you can also attend different workshops (Knots&Sutures, Basic Surgery Skills, Basic Life Support, etc.) or trainings on public health or other topics. You will be informed by your Local Exchange Officer about these opportunities.

Some specialties may require you to bring your own scrubs and hospital shoes, your contact person will let you know if this is the case.
