This time, we plunged deep into the
river with the help of the people from
the resort. The route was risky as we
had to climb huge rocks, to reach the
middle of the river which looked like a
small waterfall, and as the water fell into
a steep cavity, it was really beautiful to
watch. We made our way there and, Oh
my! The water was so cold, and I
envisaged each and every aspect of that
place in my mind. It felt so serene. The
sun was about to set and it was one of
the best evenings of my lifetime. It grew
darker and the sounds of the river grew
much louder. How I wished to sit there
for eternity!
The next morning, we visited the place
for which we planned the trip. The
Athirapally waterfalls. To be honest, I
was disappointed with the water levels
as it was too low. But the view from the
top of the falls was worth the wait. All I
could see from there was a huge canopy
of trees with the river flowing as it
disappeared into a thin line.
We were told that during monsoons,
the waterfalls would be overflowing
with water that the visitors would not
be allowed at the viewpoint where we
were standing. The only problem
would be the monkeys which would be
ready to snatch anything from the
visitors.

The view from the downstream was
good, but during the monsoons, it
would be mesmerizing to sit at one of
the rocks and watch the cascading
waters.
After the visit, we went back to the
resort and checked out. The times spent
over there would be forever in my
hearts. On our way, we stopped by the
breathtaking
Vazhachal
waterfalls,
which is located deep inside the forest. I
loved the Vazhachal waterfalls more
than Athirapally, probably due to its
location and the overflowing water
levels. The irony was, the place which I
had eagerly wanted to see, had
disappointed me as the water levels
were low. Interestingly, I had fallen in
love with this route to the forests of
Kerala than those of Tamilnadu.
The song playing in the car suited the
situation as we were totally mesmerized
by the beauty of Mother Nature. The
cold forest breeze was so soothing and
so was the song when the breeze hit us.
The spectacular landscapes emerging
from nowhere made me realize the
beauty and the soul of the forests. We
stopped at a place in the middle of
nowhere,
which
overlooked
a
breathtaking view.
