It is desired to be calculated , by measuring the length of a reed in it , the depth of a lake .
a ) The part of a reed that is above the water in this lake is measured as 1 meter in windless weather . When this reed is dragged 1 meter due to the wind , the part of the reed above the water becomes 80 cm . Accordingly , what is the depth of the lake in which this reed is located ? b ) Obtain a mathematical equation that gives the depth of the lake , if the part of this reed above the water in windless weather is a , the distance the reed is dragged due to the wind b , and the length difference of the reed above the water c .
