Pg.no. 49 Contact with certain chemicals previously used in manufacturing is also known to cause bladder cancer. However, these substances have since been banned. Treating bladder cancer In cases of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, it's usually possible to remove the cancerous cells while leaving the rest of the bladder intact. This is done using a surgical technique called transurethral resection of a bladder tumour (TURBT). This is followed by a dose of chemotherapy medication directly into the bladder, to reduce the risk of the cancer returning. 5. Brain tumours: A brain tumour is a growth of cells in the brain that multiplies in an abnormal, uncontrollable way. It can either be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Symptoms of a brain tumour The symptoms of a brain tumour vary depending on the exact part of the brain that's affected. Common symptoms include:  severe, persistent headaches  seizures (fits)  persistent nausea, vomiting and drowsiness  mental or behavioral changes, such as memory problems or changes in personality  progressive weakness or paralysis on one side of the body, vision problems, or speech problems 6. Chest pain: Chest pain can be caused by anything from muscle pain to a heart attack and should never be ignored. Bone or muscle problems If your chest is painful and tender to touch, it may be caused by a strained muscle in your chest wall. This can be surprisingly painful, but with rest the pain should ease and the muscle will heal in time. If you have pain, swelling and tenderness around your ribs, and the pain is made worse by lying down, breathing deeply, coughing or sneezing, you may have a condition called costochondritis.
