Peter Higgs has helped the world in the understanding of several advanced physics ideas. His most famous contrabution is his proposal of of broken symmetry in electroweak theory. This states how mass is put on to certain particles.

Born: November 6, 1932

François Englert has also helped the world in the understanding of several advanced physics ideas. He proposed a theory very similar to Higgs' at about the same time as Higgs' Both Higgs and Englert majorly helped in the understanding of mass.

"for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider"-Nobel Prize Motivation
