Ant Anatomy
There are more than a million times more ants on earth than humans. More than 10,000 ant species are known, and so many more are waiting to be discovered. This black garden worker ant, common in cities, is just one of the several thousand in its colony. Ants’ eyes work at distinguishing large shape and motion but suffer at fine details. Their antennae help make up for this by detecting vibrations.
Hair Line
All mammals have hair. It is used for many different purposes including warmth, protection, communication through expression, and sense. Human head hair, as seen above, is used to absorb oil created from the scalp and protect our heads from sunlight. Hair is made out of dead cells that originate from the bulb in the middle of the photo. While this bulb is dead, living bulbs grow the actual hair.
