One of the most debatable issues people ponder over is whether or not global warming will be lessened. Scientists have made predictions about the rise of temperature due to the greenhouse gases. Fossil fuel plants are used to generate electricity; however they have many harms on environment, as they increase the temperature warming of Earth, but technological innovations have never come to an end, researchers and scientists are always trying to develop new inventions. Recently, there has been a new technology that has a great impact on environment…it is the very nuclear reactors.
Nuclear reactors are devices that change chemical energy into electrical energy. Defying all expectation, nuclear reactors are found to decrease the percentage of global warming. The U.S nuclear reactors are considered the savior of 1.8 million lives; it produces a small amount of carbon that power 20 % of the nation. As a result, an assumptions made by scientist James Hansen in Columbia university, 64 metric tons of greenhouse gas pollution are being prevented by the U.S reactors and spreading of those black particles due to the combustion of coal and fossil fuels are prohibited. Hansen, also, has stated that France has the steepest decline in greenhouse gas pollution between 1970s and 80s after transforming all its sources of generating electricity to Nuclear reactors, which results in decreasing pollution by 2 percent per year. Also, China is developing nowadays about 29 reactors and imposing about 59 reactors in the coming years (Biello).
