What is renewable energy
By: Malak Saleh
Because we live in an ever-changing planet, and our habits tend to shift and change a lot in order to adapt and survive, we have adopted a lot of unneeded and harmful habits that in return have resulted in the damage of our environment. And one of the main things that have paid the price for our ridiculously careless behavior as a species is energy, and energy sources.
Energy is divided into two sub categories, the first being renewable energy and the second being nonrenewable energy. The main focus this magazine has is on RENEWABLE energy sources, since nonrenewable are known to extinct at a given moment, the actuality of having renewable energy sources go extinct is beyond our comprehension, so this is to help keep readers grounded with why this is a big issue in our world today, because without energy…let’s just keep it at that.
What is Renewable energy?
Renewable energy is a socially and politically defined category of energy sources. Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources, which are continually replenished, on a human timescale such as Sunlight, Wind, rain, tides, Waves and Geothermal heat.
About 16% of global final energy consumption comes from Renewable Sources, with 10% all energy from traditional Biomass, mainly used for heating, and 3.4% from Hydroelectricity New renewables (small hydro, modern biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, and biofuels) accounted for another 3% and are growing rapidly.
