I chose Monash for its stellar reputation and global standing . Despite having a full scholarship for the same degree back home , I decided to venture to Malaysia for Monash ’ s renowned teaching quality and prestigious reputation .
One of the standout aspects of Monash that I truly value is the abundance of chances we are given to team up with communities beyond our university . These opportunities allow us to apply the hands-on skills we ’ ve learned in real-world settings . Whether it ’ s through internships or various competitions , we ’ re constantly encouraged to put our learning into action and make meaningful contributions beyond academia .”
LUJAIN ROBERT SWAIDAN
Bachelor of Medical Bioscience
It started as a fun idea in 2022 . Lujain persuaded her friends , Choong Huey Anne from the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences and Ng Zhan Lok from the School of Engineering to team up for the Monash University Malaysia Innovation Sandbox , a campus-wide initiative where participants engage in application-based research to develop tailored solutions for an industry client .
Their prototype of a lightweight carrier for secure transportation of temperature and humidity-sensitive point-of-care test kits for the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre was the winning entry , and subsequently went on to win the silver medal at the prestigious 35th International Invention , Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2024 . Lujain and her team is currently dedicated to enhancing their prototype further before moving forward with commercialisation .
