French – Edexcel – 2FR01 Course Outline The key topics covered for the Listening and Reading examinations are: out and about; customer service and transactions; personal information and future plans, education and work. In addition students will prepare one or more topics for their Speaking and Writing Controlled Conditions Assessments. The objectives of the course are to understand French in a variety of contexts, to build knowledge of French vocabulary and grammatical structures, to develop transferable language-learning skills, to be able to communicate effectively in French and to have an awareness and understanding of countries and communities where French is spoken. Skills that will be developed will be to listen to and understand spoken French in a range of contexts and a variety of styles and to communicate in speech for a variety of purposes. Students also learn to read and respond to different types of written language as well as to learn to communicate in writing for a variety of purposes. Students understand and apply a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures and to develop language learning and communication skills which can be applied broadly.
