Genomics Platform
The Monash University Malaysia Genomics Platform( MUMGP) is an ISO 9001 certified infrastructure platform under the School of Science that provides high-throughput nucleic acids sequencing and bioinformatics services for researchers, students and clients worldwide.
MUMGP is committed to providing the highest quality of nucleic acids sequencing services using current short-read( Illumina) or long-read( Oxford Nanopore Technologies and PacBio) sequencing technologies. It is among the first facilities in Southeast Asia to obtain the PacBio Sequel IIe System for highly accurate long-read sequencing. Continuous assessment and improvement of the management system also ensure fast turn-around time with maximum efficiency and consistency.
PacBio Sequel IIe System
A high-throughput sequencer capable of generating highly accurate, high-fidelity( HiFi) contiguous long reads, with 99.9 % accuracy. In 2026, MUMGP will become the first laboratory in Malaysia to host the new Vega System.
Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION
A small, portable and real-time device for DNA and RNA sequencing, generating up to 48 GB
( theoretical max output) of long-read
sequencing data.
Oxford Nanopore Technologies PromethION2 Solo
A compact, portable and real-time long-read sequencer capable of generating up to 290 GB
( theoretical max output) of data from a single
PromethION flow cell.
