Research opportunities
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program provides undergraduate engineering students with an early opportunity to experience a genuine research environment . You ’ ll learn from lecturers who are leading researchers in their field , and acquire knowledge and skills that ’ ll prepare you for your final year project and higher degree studies .
Work experience
Classrooms provide the foundation for your engineering journey . Work experience amplifies your learning and hones your hands-on skills . As an Engineering student , you must complete 12 weeks of approved engineering work in an industry-based environment after your third year . This is a great opportunity for you to apply what you ’ ve learnt to real-life situations and to work closely with industry professionals . You ’ ll enhance your technical and professional skills , build industry connections and acquire skills that will give you an edge in the competitive employment market .

Engineers Without Borders is an international volunteer organisation that works with developing communities around the world to achieve environmentally sustainable , socially responsible and economically viable solutions to engineering problems , with an emphasis on education . The Monash University Malaysia student chapter is involved in a wide range of projects that you can be a part of . It ’ s a unique opportunity for you to make a positive impact on your local community and to develop important skills such as leadership , teamwork , time management and project management .
Our students have previously participated in :
• hosting a life skills workshop for refugee students from the Fugee School
• fundraising and installing a micro hydro generator for a school in Budok Aru , Sarawak , in collaboration with Lightup Borneo
• organising a bridge-building competition for refugee students from IDEAS Academy
• constructing a workshop for a shelter home , and a storage room and multi-purpose hall for Positive Living Community
• renovating the Chin Student Organisation Refugee School and Zomi School in collaboration with Voice of Refugee
• organising an instrument-making workshop for youth with GoodKids Malaysia .
Peer Assisted Study Sessions ( PASS )
PASS is an academic mentoring program for first-year students transitioning to university . It ’ s a program of guided study groups to provide support with difficult units . These groups are run by PASS leaders who are postgraduate or undergraduate students with a strong academic record and have successfully completed the units .
