COMMUNICATION
Stevenson’s business communication program addresses
the need for clear, persuasive communication.
In this major, students acquire a variety of skills and knowledge from courses in professional writing and journalism,
design and publication, management and marketing, information technology, and new media. Graduates typically
work in the areas of public relations, event planning, advertising, writing, editing, design, sales, Web, and marketing,
among many others. They are employed in both the public and private sectors and often pursue graduate degrees
at prestigious universities.
BizComm students (as we like to call them) gain a crucial knowledge of the business environment through courses in
advertising, events management, marketing, and public relations. They emerge from the program as confident, wellspoken leaders who understand how to reach an audience, engage others in teamwork, and apply their technological
abilities toward marketplace demands. Students in business communication also learn ethical approaches to
communication, including the power of persuasion.
BizComm’s event planning class invited students and
faculty to their Powder to the People Color Run event.
