A Sustainable Business Agenda
In addressing the Sustainable Business agenda , the School collaborated closely with several partners to provide a platform for the sharing of best practices in sustainability and responsible management within Malaysian businesses . We organised workshops and facilitated trainings to support SMEs and women entrepreneurs to drive the change from within their organisations and business communities .
Public-Private-Academia Actors Examine Malaysia ’ s Sustainability Landscape
On 14 October 2022 , the School of Business held a roundtable jointly organised with UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei ( UNGCMYB ) to discuss findings from the 2022 Malaysia Businesses Sustainability Pulse Report ( SPR ) launched by UNGCMYB . The roundtable brought together public-private-academia actors to examine Malaysia ’ s sustainability landscape and explore potential collaboration opportunities to advance the local sustainability agenda .
Moderated by Prof Mohan Avvari , Deputy Head of the School of Business , Monash University Malaysia , the roundtable participants included A / Prof Dr Grace Lee Hooi Yean ( Monash University Malaysia ), Wong Chiun Chiek ( Bursa Data Business ), S . Jai Shankar ( Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation ( MATRADE ), Jeevan Rajoo ( Tata Consultancy Services Malaysia ( TCS Malaysia ), Raja Amir Shah Raja Azwa ( HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad ), Dr Sumitra Nair ( Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation ), and Prof Andy Chan ( University of Nottingham Malaysia ).
Sustainability training for SMEs : ACCESS Workshops
The School of Business hosted five ACCESS workshops in collaboration with UNGCMYB . The workshops were modelled for SMEs to participate in enhancing their knowledge and applying relevant tools to the organisation . These sessions provided candidates with various implementation tools specific to modules focus areas . Participants had the opportunity to develop sustainability initiatives for their own organisation .
Training Women Microentrepreneurs with Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia
A / Prof Grace Lee Hooi Yean from the School of Business collaborated with Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia ( AIM ) to develop a tailor-made training curriculum that meets the current needs and challenges of women microentrepreneurs in the bottom 40 per cent of the Malaysian household income ( B40 ) group . AIM is a leading microfinance institution in Malaysia that provides financial facilities , guidance , and ongoing training to women microentrepreneurs among poor and low-income families . Four training sessions were held in 2022 , involving at least 500 women microentrepreneurs who are microfinance clients of AIM .
AWS User Group Community Meetup
The School of Business hosted Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) developers , startups , and enterprise partners to share ideas , answer questions , and learn about new opportunities to develop the cloud and best practices peer-to-peer communities .
