“We’ve watched your students come into our
store for story time since they were very little,”
said Kathleen Schaefer, general manager. “Now,
we’re excited to recognize your students for their
achievements with their own writing and essays!”
Winning essays included many tales of mascots
wearing capes, helping prevent and stop
bullying in elementary schools, and taking care
of the environment and recycling. For many,
the underlying theme behind their school
mascots being a superhero for the day was
that of compassion and caring for their fellow
students. And in our opinion, that makes each
them superheroes, as well!

Young Authors Night, hosted by long-time partner
Barnes & Noble, recognized all campus first place
essay winners. Each student was given a gift bag
