BEE THE SOLUTION to help protect bees in crisis
13 . HELP SAVE THE BEES
Believe it or not , you have a bee to thank for every one in three bites of food you eat .
Honey bees — wild and domestic — perform about 80 percent of all pollination worldwide . A single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day . Grains are primarily pollinated by the wind , but fruits , nuts and vegetables are pollinated by bees . Seventy out of the top 100 human food crops — which supply about 90 percent of the world ’ s nutrition — are pollinated by bees .( source :

What is ‘ pollen ’? a fine powdery substance , typically yellow , consisting of microscopic grains discharged from the male part of a flower or from a male cone . Each grain contains a male gamete that can fertilize the female ovule , to which pollen is transported by the wind , insects , or other animals .
What is ‘ pollination ’? To give ( a plant ) pollen from another plant of the same kind so that seeds will be produced .
Why is it so important to protect the bees ? Bees are vital for the preservation of ecological balance and biodiversity in nature . They provide one of the most recognizable ecosystem services , i . e . pollination , which is what makes food production possible .
