School District 622 Volunteer Handbook 2018-2019 school year | Page 2
Welcome from Superintendent
Welcome and thank you for choosing to volunteer in District 622! We are thrilled to have you join us and sincerely
appreciate your desire to enhance the educational experience for our learners.
Volunteers are part of the reason students in District 622 continue to learn and thrive in academics, athletics, and
arts. Whether in the school’s main office, library or the classroom, volunteers are essential to staff, schools,
families, and the larger community. You are truly the key to our success!
Thank you for making a difference for the students of District 622 and being part of the 622 Family.
Warm Regards,
Christine Osorio
Superintendent
Handbook Overview
This handbook provides an overview of the volunteer program and is designed to help you make a smooth
transition into your role as a volunteer. We are committed to doing the very best we can to make your volunteer
experience productive and rewarding. We want to ensure that you are an informed volunteer.
Each school’s volunteer program is individualized to meet the specific needs of the students and staff at that
school as well as program participants. To more directly assist teachers and staff, all elementary schools and
middle schools have a part time volunteer coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinators collaborate with building
leadership and parent organizations to align volunteer efforts with school goals. The volunteer coordinator
provides ongoing direction that will help you as a volunteer. If the building or program you would like to
volunteer for does not have a designated Coordinator, your email will be forwarded to a central location and
forwarded to the appropriate contact.
Thank you for being on our team to help students succeed. Community Partnerships are essential to the success
of our district. We hope that your volunteer experience is rewarding in many ways.
In Appreciation,
Jennifer Griggs-Andress,
Partnership Specialist
