Sea Creatures Dolphins are found all over the world, mostly in shallow seas. They have excellent eyesight and hearing. They are highly intelligent marine mammals and are part of the family of toothed whales that includes orca and pilot whales. Dolphins are carnivores and eat lots of fish and squid. They are really friendly creatures and live in groups called pods. Pods can have up to 1000 dolphins in the and they all hunt and play together. Because dolphins are mammals, they need to come to the surface of the water to breathe. Unlike land mammals that breathe and eat through their mouths, dolphins have separate holes for each job. Dolphins eat through their mouths and breathe through their blowholes. This prevents the dolphin from sucking up water into the lungs when hunting, reducing the risk of drowning. Fun fact: The Killer Whale (also known as the orca what) is actually a type of dolphin! By Phoebe, Abigail & Maddie Komono dragons were discovered during world war 2 when a pilot happened to land at the Lesser Sunda Islands which are in Asia. They can run short distances at speeds of up to 20kmph. Common snapping turtles have lived on earth for over 40 million years. They live in shallow fresh waters and eat fish and small animals. Bearded dragons are originally from Australia and now there are 9 different species across the world. They live for up to 8 years in the wild. Interestingly they bask with their mouths open like a panting dog. By Seren Hawkins   Reptiles
