PARC LEWIS INTERVIEW
THE AUTHOR
Who would be your favourite
authors to work with and
why?
My favourite authors are Roald
Dahl and Terry Brooks. Terry
Brooks is a Canadian author of
fantasy novels including The
Shannara Chronicles which
have now been made into a TV
series. I think it would have
been great fun to have worked
with Roald Dahl - his stories
are full of creative language
and adventures told with
humour and often with a
sinister and unexpected twist
to the tale!
Are the stories you write
based on real life facts?
Most of my stories are fantasy
but inspired by real life. The
Mystery of the Un-snowy
Mountain is based on Rudry
mountain, for example. Fantasy
writing
means
that
the
possibilities for how the story
unfolds are endless!
If there was a film made of
the book ‘The Mystery of the
Un-snowy Mountain and the
Great
Deep
Sleep
Miscalculation’, who would
play Tyler?
I think I would want it to be
someone previously unknown –
in the same way that Emma
Watson and Daniel Radcliffe
were unknown before the Harry
Potter series! This means that
there are no expectations about
the characters from things that
people might have seen the
actors in already, but also that it
is an opportunity for an
unknown actor to make their
mark!
Have you ever met any
famous authors?
I have met authors working in a
similar field, such as Colin
Parsons (author of the ‘Wizards
Kingdom Trilogy’) and the
Christian author Selwyn Jones. I
also very nearly met Quentin
Blake once at a workshop he
delivered at Hay-on-Wye, but
unfortunately there was a
