Interview:
this is an interview with a 24 years old scholar his name is Ali Aljafri and this is his last year studying nuclear enginering abroad in USA, these are the questions i asked him:
1- what is your mission as a scholar?
My mission consists of two parts: the first is to get the best education from the top universities aruond the world. the second is to be a great ambassidor for the UAE when im interacting with the foreigners.
2- how does UAE support scholars?
The UAE provides many scholarship oportunities for graduate and undergraduate education. those scholarships include most of the important majors that can benifit our country in the futur. Moreover, the UAE Embassy in US help us move through all the difficulties we face while living there.
3- how does scholarship support students?
scholarships support us academically and financially. Acadimicaly, through an integrated advising system where an adviser follows our educational development consistently. Also, the scholarship provides different summer internship chances. On the other hand, they support us financially by paying all the tuition fees. moreover, we get an appriciable amount of money as a monthly salary to live a comfortable life outside the UAE.
4- what are the positive and negative effects of studying abroad?
As for the positive effects, i think the most important ones are: first, the high quality education we get from the bigget universities in the world. second, is the life expeirince we gain from living independetly in a forign country.
The most important negative effect is the culture shock we face due to the gap between our traditiond and their's.
5- what is your major and does it help Abu dhabi vision 2030?
I study nuclear Engineering at the pennsylvania state university. the nuclear industry is a big part of abu dhabi vision 2030. ENEC (emirates nuclear energy company) is trying to be one of the leading companies in the nuclear power sector. I hope to be an effective member of this great project.
