Sceneazine.com Jenny Mann of BLAMESHIFT J enny Mann is the fun-sized, spunky leading lady of national touring rock band BLAMESHIFT and we are super stoked to have her here as our very first artist interview :) Hey Jenny! Many people have seen you pour your heart out on stages across the country, and we’d like to give other ladies in rock and metal a glimpse into what it’s like being a woman in a DIY nationally-touring band. Fatal FEMME: So, we are going to start off with probably the most standard question in interviews... what got you into playing live music? Jenny Mann: I have been performing since I was about 5 years old. I grew up on stage doing theatre. So, it was natural to transition into performing my own music, however much different. FF: We all have been asked how we get up on stage and do what we do, and after a while it becomes second nature to us. But the first time you ever played a show, how nervous were you? JM: Very true but I sometimes still to this day get nervous. It definitely used to be a lot worse when we first started out. I used to get nervous days before our shows at the beginning. I think nervous energy is good though as long as you channel it right. FF: Your band, Blameshift, tours for the better part of the year, what would you say is the single hardest thing about that? JM: I have gotten so accustomed to life on the road that the hardest part for me is acclimating to life not on the road. But, of course there are still hard things about the road. I would say the toughest part is being away from family and friends and missing big milestones such as weddings, birthdays, etc. FF: What do you do on those endless drives to keep from going stir-crazy? JM: I love being in the bus more than anything. On long drives I sleep a lot, catch up on emails/facebook, watch movies, etc. Sometimes I even drive!! ;) FF: You have a little downtime in between tours, where’s home? What do you do when you’re not on the road? JM: Home for me is Long Island, NY. I live in a little town called Great Neck. When I’m home I spend most of my time trying to see everyone I haven’t seen in awhile. I spend a lot of time with my mom, sister and dad. I have to make up for lost time. FF: What is your absolute favorite tour memory? JM: There are so many, it’s hard to just pick one. I think in general, the tour we did in the summer of 2012 with 12 Stones, Digital Summer, and Q
