Sceneazine.com would you like to see change if anything? Brandon-Well the local Metal music scene is good where we are, but not great. And there is a lot of hating on the low from other bands, comparing sacks i guess you could say. We are not about that, we are about unity. We believe all local bands should help each other out, share shows and fans. After all at the end of the day we all are just doing what we love; its about the music and the people. Anthony-Music scene is okay. Its nothing to call home about. haha Nate-Way too much bluegrass in Asheville. We need more rock, metal and less banjo. Ryan-The Avl metal scene is growing along with the camaraderie that didn’t exist before. The mountain metal scene has been buried not by choice but by electronica, banjos, and jazz but it’s digging itself out and I believe a new year’s resolution for metal scene in 2015 is to break down the barriers between venues and the stereotypes given to metal heads and make it a more profitable and pronounced movement. Where do you see this band in a year or two? Do you guys, as a band have any goals for this year? Brandon-In two years we hope to be a regular paid touring band playing all over. As a goal for this year we hope to have enough money saved up to finish up our EP send our selves on a mini tour across the whole US hitting every state we can. Anthony-hopefully have a fan base, and touring Ryan-We all see ourselves going somewhere. There’s just steps to be taken and playing around the scene and gaining notoriety is the first( which seems to be getting some momentum) then we need to get into a studio and give some loving justice to the art we’ve created. From there we see it really hitting off to something bigger. We do it for the love but we definitely have huge aspirations. If you were asked to describe your band’s sound or who you sound like, what would you say? Brandon-Well thats kind of a hard one, i would describe our sound as punk-metal not to sure if we sound like anybody else or not, we all have many different influences Anthony-we arev heavy metal with a popular sound, kind of like Atreyu, killswitch engage, lamb of god. Ryan-However I don’t think we sound like anybody. Lol we’ve definitely been giving the genre placement in like metal/thrash/punk but the only band I’ve heard reference to is the early As I Lay Dying. Between our styles and influences it’s an interesting melting pot we’ve created for a metal band. Who would you guys say was the biggest musical or non-musical influence on each of you? And why? Brandon-For me probably Kurt Cobain, he is the original reason i picked up the guitar. Nate-Steve Harris, i love iron maiden and the big galloping bass sound Page 18 Anthony-bullet for my valentine, because they were the first metal band i fell in love with, and really wanted me to become what they are, famous. Ryan-My biggest influences in drumming were definitely Joey jordison and Chris Adler. I listen to so many styles of music I couldn’t name them all. Vocally I couldn’t say I just made my voice my own. My goal as a musician is to work to being the lexi laiho of drums. As a band do you guys have a favorite local club? What makes it your favorite? How about a regional club? Brandon-The Boiler Room, nice bar, nice vibe, fun place. Ryan-We haven’t really had the chance to play out of town much as of yet. We did play ground zero on December 5th and we definitely plan to do it again. As far as local places we all agree that the boiler room has the best stage set-up and atmosphere. The Avl music hall definitely has a good sound and setup as well. As more venues open their doors to metal bands were sure we’ll gain more favorites. Let’s get everyone’s opinion on this. If someone ask you for advise about being in a band or about starting one, what would you say? Would you encourage or discourage them? Brandon-Definitely encourage, it’s all about commitment, work together, and stick with it Anthony-Always encourage people, no reason to not support someone. And i would tell them to find band mates that are loyal, and write the best music you can. Nate-encourage, be married to the band, make time for it and hope your wife lets you Ryan-My advice is give it your all. No matter what genre there’s no better feeling that the high and oneness you feel with other musicians creating this art. And to take that art and give it to people is the greatest thing I feel you can do. The only way to give a part of yourself unconditionally. What are some of your likes and dislikes about being in a band? Anthony-I like being around the band mates and drinking a beer. I dislike carrying all my equipment every time we have a show. Brandon-likes:writing music, and playing gigs; dislikes: getting stuck with the last set time of the night Ryan-I have no dislikes this is all I’ve ever wanted. To do what I love and have it mean something to people. Who have guys shared a stage with? Any national acts? We’ve played with mostly regional acts Amnesis, Broad River Nightmare, Binding Isaac, Severance, Downbreak. And a bunch of other metal bands around the area who fuckin tear it up for the love like we do. Probably the biggest band we have played with was Bloodline Severed. Most bands dream of making it big or reaching the top. Do you guys have that dream or do you care if you get a recording contract? Brandon-Yes we care, everybody cares, of course we would like a recording contract Anthony-Thats all i want is to be at the top. Its not worth it if your goal isn’t the top.. Nate-Yes I want to record, its not the main objective but definitely a goal Ryan-
