RCC, Holocaust Museum Receive Prestigious Federal Grant
FUNDS WILL GO TO HELP PRESERVE MUSEUM’S HISTORIC COLLECTION
A
prestigious federal grant will allow
improved preservation of the
historic collection of artifacts at the
Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance
and Education. Rockland Community
College, in partnership with the Holocaust
Museum, received the Preservation Assistance
Grant from the National Endowment for the
Humanities (NEH).
The grant is one of 253 announced last
December by the NEH. The $5,999 award
will go towards a preservation assessment of
the Holocaust Museum’s collection, a training
workshop for Museum staff, and the purchase
of preservation supplies.
The Holocaust Museum’s collection
includes books, photographs, newspapers
and audio-visual materials. It also contains
some 1,500 artifacts from Nazi-era Germany,
World War II and postwar Europe,
many of them contributed by survivors
of concentration camps or their families.
The Museum is currently constructing a
new exhibition space in the RCC Library
building.
