In recent years, few have been able to touch the genuine likeness and success that Ted Torres brings to the table. As an established “ETA” (Elvis tribute artist), few could argue that he may very well be one of the best in the world and his many loyal fans would agree, referring to him as the best ever. Long gone are the characterizations and overblown images of the King. When they see Ted, it’s the real thing and anyone who has experienced him live will tell you that not only is the King back, but could be back as an even nicer guy. Ted is primarily an actor and “The King” is just one of the many roles he brings grace to. From worldwide tours paying tribute to Elvis, the Everly Brothers and so many more, Ted is also paving the way for a successful acting career as well as showing his songwriting chops. Ted is the complete package and we are pleased to have him here today.

SM: Ted, what started it all?

TT: I was born in New York. Left there when I was 4 or so. We then moved to Florida. After a while, we moved to the Caribbean to the island of Puerto Rico, where I lived for about 5 years. My dad's job playing music took us there. Then we moved back to Florida where I have been raised ever since. I had a great childhood. The best parents anyone could ask for.

SM: Music seems to be the heart in your family?

TT: My father was a very well known musician/songwriter and my mom was a known singer/entertainer as well. So I grew up in a musical family. It's in the blood you may say.

SM: What inspired you in music? Influences and dreams?

TT: I was inspired by my musical family. I grew up listening to all kinds of music. Very well rounded when it comes to that. My parents were a great influence. Also Elvis of course and people like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Marty Robbins and the list goes on and on.... All of this made me pursue music. It shaped me and I don't think I had any choice in the matter because of my family’s musical background. I was born into it.

SM: When did Elvis come in the picture? You have had amazing success portraying him live on stage around the world and on film. What inspired you to do what you do now?

TT: Elvis came in the picture around the age of 9 or so when I first heard my dad playing Silver Bells by Elvis on a cassette in our garage. He then told me who he was. I thought he had a great voice even at that age, but I didn’t really get into it until about the age of 12. I remember that THAT was the guy my dad told me about and then I thought he had cool hair. So from then on I had a pompadour and I tell ya, I would spend hours combing that hair in school!!!

SM: That’s awesome! What are the ages and kinds of people who come to your shows in general?

TT: The people that come to my shows are of all ages. Blue collar, white collar you name it! Everyone just about. That's the beauty of Elvis' music. It brings everyone together. They all have that in common.
