The orientation started at about 2:15 pm with Dr. Yap introducing the freshmen to SBS and Biosciences club. Ashraf, coordinator for the ice breaking committee, showed the students the type of activities organized by Biosciences club and also introduced them to the Board of Directors for the club. The Ice Breaking committee organized several games including “Holding hands”, “Musical box of charade” and “Sing off”.
The first game involved students sitting in circles and holding their friends’ hands, shoulders and waist. Each group of students showed great cooperation as all of them are able to lift everyone in that circle within seconds. The second game is called musical box of charade where students are required to act and/or imitate the character of a person they chosen in the musical box and everyone within the group gets a chance to guess the character. The student who guessed the correct character was given a candy.
The next game is known as sing – off. Students in groups were required to sing a song together and compete with the other groups. The game was played for four rounds with each round having a different song category. The students had fun discussing and singing songs in each round. The game lasted for about 50 minutes and the activity ended at around 4:15 pm.
At the end of the ice breaking, the winning team for all three games obtained a gift hamper to be shared among their teammates. Overall all freshmen had good fun throughout the activity.
