THe SBS Alumni Reunion Hi-Tea was organized on the 12th of November 2016 at Student Life Center, Taylor’s Lakeside campus. This gathering has been a tradition of SBS since it was first organized in Nov 2014 allowing the school to engage their graduating students as well as alumni and creating an active SBS network. A total of 50 SBS alumni and 6 lecturers were present at the reunion hi-tea event. Dr. Anthony Ho, dean of the School of Biosciences, officiated the event and welcomed all alumni, lecturers and industry partners. The event started with the industry student award (INSTAR) presentation, an award sponsored by SBS industry partners to recognize and reward graduating students who excelled in their studies. Ms. Lim Kun Ye who graduated with a CGPA of 3.83 won the Best Biotechnology Student Award (sponsored by Furley Bioextract Sdn. Bhd) while Ms Lee Yun Yee won the best achiever award in human molecular genetics module (sponsored by DNA laboratories Sdn Bhd). Each student obtained a certificate and RM 500 in cash prize.
The reunion hi-tea was alive with exciting performances. One of the highlights was the string quartet performance led by the Taylor’s University orchestra club consisting of Tan Jiok Er and Natalie Vivien Gunter of SBS, Michael Lee Chang Vui Loong and Lee Win Kee. The reunion hi-tea also marked the establishment of the SBS Alumni Club. Ms Chong Xiao Rui, president of the alumni club committee 2016/2017, introduced the committee members and announced their upcoming activities for 2017. Ms. Chong is currently a regulatory affairs executive at Mead Johnson Nutrition Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia.
