VacciXcell Bioprocessing Seminar (22 Oct 2016)
The VacciXcell Bioprocessing seminar organized by ESCO introduced the methods of high throughput cell culturing. In this seminar, bioprocessing specialists presented technology solution for vaccine stem cells, regenerative medicines therapies and pharmacy from production. The students were equipped with the integrated knowledge about their current products like bioreactors and high-end cell culture flask. With this seminar, instead of “re-lecturing” about the basic principles of bioprocessing, students were given with information about the current research facilities that are used in high throughput manufacturing of biosimilars, vaccines and stem cells.
Principle and Aseptic Technique on Culture Media Preparation Seminar & Workshop (12 Nov 2016)
Lonza Bioscience and Next Gene Sdn Bhd co-organized a seminar on basic principles of cell culture. It is a mini workshop which includes lecture and hands-on aseptic cell culture training. Trained cell culture specialists showed attendees the techniques for performing cell counting, sub-culturing as well as changing media. All attendees were divided into groups and practiced the techniques in the cell culture lab. This workshop provides essential practical skills for handling cell culture, a technique which is useful for students who will be working on cell culture-related projects in their final year or in their future careers.
Introduction to food and clinical microbiology and media preparation workshop (26 Nov 2016)
The workshop presented by Thermoscientific focuses on microbiology media preparation. The workshop started off with introduction to food and clinical microbiology followed by a hands-on media preparation session. This workshop plays an important role in the sense that most of the media used in the practical regarding microbiology are prepared beforehand. Therefore, by attending this workshop, students are able to learn how to prepare their own media as well as the methods for modifying it. Meanwhile, the theoretical part of the workshop taught students about diagnostic approaches in food and clinical microbiology. Overall the seminar prepares students the essential concepts and skills in microbiology.
