OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
Season two was very different from season one in many ways , in fact , as we went to Paul Ricard for the first time . were impressive in many ways , and both provided big crowds in their first year , but both have fallen off the WorldSBK trail . The roof nearly came off Istanbul ’ s main grandstand when local hero Kenan Sofuoglu won the WorldSSP race … The Malaysian circuit of Sepang was another MotoGP™ track that WorldSBK got to use for a time but in Buriram , Thailand , it was the other way around . WorldSBK had it first then MotoGP™ took that ultra-stadium circuit over . And again , when Ratthapark Wilairot won the WorldSSP race for Thailand , the ground literally shook under the main grandstand , as tens of thousands of voices roared all at once . The very new San Juan Villicum venue in Argentina saw us start to approach 50 WorldSBK circuits in all , as it hosted our first ever South American races in 2018 . Last year Catalunya became a WorldSBK venue , after exclusive MotoGP™ use , and successfully so . But 2021 is an important year for tracks new to WorldSBK racing . Three new ones in one season in this day and age ? Unusual times indeed . We have already , and very recently , been to Most in the Czech Republic , we are currently in Navarra and will head to the all-new Mandalika circuit in Indonesia in November . As it stands at least . Over 50 in terms of its individual track visits now , WorldSBK has as much spring in its step and glint of optimism in its eyes as it had when it emerged as a hungry new-born child at Donington in 1988 . You going to be around for the next 50 racetracks ?
