Spanish 125 champion in 2003 , World 125cc GP Champion in 2006 , serial 250cc GP race winner until he jumped up to MotoGP™ in 2010 , he scored three podiums over eight years and finally switched paddocks to head up Ducati ’ s WorldSBK effort as one of the best riders In MotoGP™ never to quite win a ‘ blue ribbon ’ race . Of course , racing is always super-important for those involved in racing . But real life is real life for everyone . And now Alvaro has not just got a career and a marriage , he has got two very young kids to look after . And he loves being a dad . “ In my personal life it has been one of the more wonderful things that has happened to me ,” said Alvaro at Assen recently . “ It is incredible . You cannot imagine how you will feel until you become a father . For sure it has changed my life a little bit , because now I have two little people that I have to care for . Now they are one and half and six months old , just one year different , more or less .” Being a pro athlete , and now a breadwinner for more mouths , Alvaro also has to allocate time to train , even when he is at home . Not easy but the Bautista family are on the case it seems for all things . “ At home I can keep training and doing all my stuff there to be prepared for racing ,” said Alvaro . “ I try always at home to separate my personal life and my professional life . At home I try to not think about racing , and at the track I do not think about family or home . With all my experience it is the best way to enjoy each ‘ life ’. At home I enjoy the moment , with my children , my wife , my friends , my family , and I try to not think about races . In racing , as an example , I never speak with my wife until maybe the night time or I will send a message at night . Sometimes even some days we do not speak . Here , at the racetrack , I am here I try to enjoy all of the things here - working , the life with the mechanics … I like to separate things . Because of this , in the races , to be a father changes nothing .” Home for Bautista means exactly that , the same home town he has lived in since he was a child . Talavera de la Reina , South West of Madrid . Many racers and other sportsmen go to live in a tax haven like Andorra , which is also a great place to train between races . Not a favoured tactic for Bautista , as he explains . “ Many people who live in Andorra are from Barcelona , for example , or the
