EXCITING CONTENT final job was done by Sylvain and Aprilia in Qatar at the next round but everybody , most of all Guintoli , knew that without Magny-Cours and ‘ that ’ weather and the pit board politics , his title win would have never quite have happened . Across all classes , Magny-Cours has provided season climaxes that will live long in the memory but one truly never-to-be-repeated landmark in Motorsport happened at the final race of 2018 season in the relatively new WorldSSP300 championship . A woman may well win a World Championship in motorcycle racing again , but there will never be another first time a woman won a championship - and that feat was achieved at Magny-Cours . Ana was not in the leading group in the final race and really did not know if she had won the title on the slowdown lap - until the massed ranks of French fans watched the results confirmed on the big screens and started yelling and applauding her incredible achievement . It really was history and it all happened at Magny- Cours . Actually , maybe we have something up our sleeves to eclipse all those other championship finishes . What about the 2012 season , the absolutely closest and most nerve-shredding finale to a WorldSBK season there has ever been ? After Max Biaggi has failed to finish Race One , he would finish fifth in the second race to become World Champion again . But his final margin of points table advantage was 0.5 over Race Two winner Tom Sykes . Yes , not even a whole point decided the championship in 2012 - but again it was decided at Magny Cours . With 40 WorldSBK races under its belt Magny Cours clearly likes to run WorldSBK races as much as we like to be there watching and taking part in the unfolding dramas . French fans , enjoying what for some will be a last big weekend of the year before the worst winter months reclaims the roads , are as hardcore and enthusiastic as they come . This year will be different for Magny Cours . In some ways maybe even better … The nerve endings on your face and fingers should tell you that we are not going racing in early October , but early September . Hopefully that will mean more pleasant outdoor conditions for the always strong crowd that has attended the Magny-Cours WorldSBK weekends . Rain , hail or shine , the French bikers come to be entertained and salute the top gladiators no matter where they hail from . Obviously they can find an extra gear , a few more RPM on top , if a French rider wins , but they are there to see the two-wheeled warriors fight , and appreciate it when they all give their best - whoever leaves the arena is champion . No final round or even final European round status for Magny-Cours this year but after the overall 2021 everybody has had , who is going to care ? Especially if the racing proves to be as combative and wideranging as any of the many vintage years of WorldSBK racing at Magny-Cours .
