of the perfect brand ambassador for a French oil company with a global reach and ambitions . “ With Motul it goes back a long time ,” said Sylvain . “ The Suzuki years of course , and I have been in teams sponsored by Motul for as long as I can remember . Last year , Motul and I started talking and with the Covid confinement , I had already started a YouTube channel . I wanted to carry it on this year but just doing some different stuff .” Different from his racetrack or race bike focused videos , at least . That new YouTube stuff included Motul sponsoring Sylvain ’ s Suzuki V-Strom ride to Wales recently , with respected off-roader Dan Evans . Tarmac , off road , they did a bit of everything and saw some amazing scenery . It is well worth watching , and you can see that video on ‘ Guinters ’ very own YouTube channel - search for Sylvain Guintoli the Welsh Epic . His eponymous channel also features a variety of race stuff and a whole series of ‘ how-to ’ track riding tips and explanations . Some in English , some in French , always enjoyable to watch . “ It is great to be working on that side of things because we can do some epic stuff , which I like ,” said Sylvain . As well as the YouTube and PR side of things Sylvain is very much still an active rider . A tester and occasionally more for the reigning MotoGP™ Champions Suzuki , and a full-on racer again in the Yoshimura SERT Motul EWC set-up that recently won the iconic 24-Hours de Mans . Yes , the Le Mans 24 Hours , if you prefer the English version . Suzuki is a common thread nowadays of course , just as Motul is . “ The Suzuki and Motul partnership started a long time ago so it made sense to be working together ,” explained Sylvain . “ From the MotoGP™ side it is Suzuki Japan , from the EWC side it is more Japanese as well now . Suzuki has been supporting the French SERT team for over 20 years but now they have made their partnership closer , reinforced it , and Yoshimura is part of this partnership . It is like a full factory team in EWC . I also do stuff for Suzuki GB and Motul UK - because I live here in the UK . We are all working together .” It sometimes feels when listening to Sylvain talk that if you had to design the perfect ambassador for all those aforementioned companies and projects you would make another Sylvain Guintoli … He laughs off that suggestion but affirms that it is good that he and Motul can work together on many different fronts . “ The EWC project , which started in the best way possible with the win in Le Mans , and social media things - there are loads of angles there . I am massive multi-tasking !” said Sylvain . He even finds time to have a role with BT Sport TV coverage in MotoGP™ , covering four races with them in June , plus a week of work at Le Mans , and then two Suzuki MotoGP™ tests . All in the month of June alone , but the big gig is the testing job on the GSX-RR “ My main job is the MotoGP™ job ,” said Sylvain , “ so it has been very , very busy .” That MotoGP™ job involves Sylvain being test rider for any and all of Suzuki ’ s MotoGP™ tech developments , and of course that paid off massively for the Motul supported official Suzuki Ecstar team in 2020 when Joan Mir became world champion . A crowning glory for all involved to sit right on top of the racing pyramid , which is no easy feat in any season , but particularly now when the margins are so close and there are so many competing factories . As well as his continuing testing days , expect to see more of Sylvain and Motul working together - on track , TV and in all kinds of social media
