WELCOME TO WORLDSBK
Jorge Viegas FIM President
As with all the current FIM World Championships , and after the events of last year due to the ongoing pandemic , everyone involved in the 2021 FIM Superbike World Championship is hoping for an uninterrupted schedule , plus safe and suitable conditions to allow the series to follow its thirteen round campaign that is planned to run from May through to November .
All eyes will be on record holding six-time and current FIM Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea as he looks to further extend his recent domination of a series that has not only witnessed some of the fastest ever production motorcycles but also seen plenty of epic and close racing that has become synonymous with this championship since it first came to life back in the late eighties .
August will see races at Autodrom Most – Czech Republic and Circuito de Navarra – Spain , before the paddock then packs up and moves onto Magny-Cours – France , Circuit de Barcelona – Spain and Circuito de Jerez during the month of September for another hectic five rounds almost on the bounce . The 2021 FIM Superbike World Championship will then return to Portugal , this time to the Algarve International Circuit , Portimão in early October ahead of visits to Argentina and Indonesia to close out the season , by which time the gold medal will have been placed over the head of a worthy champion .
Even in these difficult times the FIM Superbike World Championship remains an important racing platform for many of the leading motorcycle brands who have all enjoyed their own successes out on track over the last thirty-year plus period . Without doubt it is still the blue-ribbon road race championship for production-based models .
With this in mind and on behalf of the FIM I would like to say thank you to our promoter Dorna WSBK Organisation , our national federations , the local organisers , our FIM officials , the many volunteers , the riders , the teams , the manufacturers , the media , plus all associated partners and sponsors . My wish is for a safe and successful season , and one where you the fans can be back trackside as and when the local conditions allow this to happen , as you have been missed by us all
