EXCITING CONTENT and beyond , that the FIM and series organisers Dorna place a lot of trust in the hands of their dedicated volunteers . John from Racesafe in the UK , confident that they will do the job the way it needs done when Donington WorldSBK comes around , explained , “ There is no particular input from the FIM other than the feedback given after events . That feedback for events covered by Racesafe has always been positive so something must be right . Racesafe is an entity of its own and I like to think sets a very high standard . Prior to its formation the responses in this country would have been very different week-to-week at different circuits where the local club provided the marshals .” It clearly takes a special type of person to be a race marshal . A dedication to the shared cause of safety and the common good seems all-encompassing . There are easier ways to spend your leisure time , after all . Consider this , too . Do you get up early for work ? Well , marshals can also get up very early . Especially early at Misano , it seems . Rafaelle again … “ They wake up in the morning very , very early , I want them on track and on the radios at 06.30 in the morning , because first of all the chief of post must have a briefing with all of his marshals . Normally for a WorldSBK event we have 20 , 25 , 28 marshals per post . The Chief of Post works for the distribution of duties , the tasks . For example , the four marshals in the ‘ Track Intervention Group ’ must know very well from 06.30 who is doing what . Who has the straps to remove a crashed bike , who will use the medical protection barrier , who checks the engine crankcase for the leak of liquid and oil . This is very important because you cannot invent your job in the moment of the crash .
