WorldSBK is an old friend of Misano . Or to use the correct 21st century title , the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli . Our first two-wheeled WorldSBK tryst by the seaside in 1991 has been followed by a long and fruitful relationship , with most seasons including a happy ‘ holiday race ’ by the Adriatic coast for the premier production derived championship on two wheels . For most of its life Misano was run in the opposite direction to the clockwise direction of today , which makes it one of those circuits that is not scared to modernise and progress to remain relevant and a regular race venue for many classes .
Italy is , as the greybeards like me know , the de-facto European birthplace of Superbike racing . America may be the real mother of truly production-derived big-time racing but circuits like Misano took it to the masses , even hosting night time races to draw in the holiday makers from the nearby towns of Misano , Rimini , Cattolica , Riccione and many more .
In its design , Misano is one of the original stadium circuits , replacing as it did the many road race ‘ venues ’ that were dotted

L ‘ America potrà essere la vera madrina del grande successo delle corse per le moto derivate dalla serie , ma sono stati i circuiti come Misano che l ‘ hanno fatta conoscere al grande pubblico , ospitando anche gare in notturna per attirare i vacanzieri dalle vicine città di Misano , Rimini , Cattolica , Riccione ed altre ancora .
