It is the latest in a long line of technological advances that have benefitted WorldSBK teams and riders . Under Pirelli ’ s single tyre formula , introduced almost two decades ago , all the riders had - for the first time - the same possibilities to compete for victory thanks to an equal tyre supply . Back then , it was the first single tyre supply formula ever for a motorcycle world championship . Today , it is the longest single tyre supply formula in the history of motorsport .
Pirelli involvement in WorldSBK is not only a partnership with objectives of brand exposure and marketing activations . More importantly and strategically it becomes an actual development platform for the technologies and the material that are then used for the road oriented products .
Versatility is the strength of Pirelli ’ s racing product , which is able to offer the highest performance to top level competitions while being friendly to the amateur consumer . From this approach sprang the now famous Pirelli motto : “ We sell what we race , we race what we sell .”
The latest point of particular focus for Pirelli is the new rear-only SCQ tyre solution , designed to be used during qualifying sessions and the ten-lap Superpole Race . It will be a completely new replacement for the previous qualifying ( Q ) tyre , which from this season will no longer be available .
This has echoes of when the SCX compound was introduced in 2019 . Since then , thanks to constant improvements in the SCX solutions by Pirelli , and improvements by the teams in exploiting the capabilities of this tyre option , it has enjoyed widespread success . By the 2021 season the SCX solution was used by the majority of the grid in most of the circuits , and for the long distance races .
With the latest SCQ solutions Pirelli intends to offer something new , and with even greater performance . The company has not rested during the winter break . It has been hard at work to produce several specifications of the SCQ tyre that have been tested during the offseason , at Portimao and Jerez , by the majority of the teams .
Pirelli has taken all the feedback of the riders from the winter tests and has been working hard again to fine tune the SCQ solution for the beginning of the 2022 season .

Il coinvolgimento di Pirelli nel WorldSBK non è una partnership che ha obiettivi esclusivamente legati al brand exposure o al marketing . Ancora più importante e strategico è il fatto che sia diventata una vera e propria piattaforma di sviluppo delle tecnologie e dei materiali , che vengono in seguito utilizzati anche per i prodotti distribuiti sul mercato .
La versatilità è il punto di forza del prodotto racing di Pirelli , che è in grado di offrire le massime prestazioni sia a chi partecipa alle competizioni di altissimo livello , che al cliente amatoriale . Da questo approccio è scaturito l ‘ ormai famoso motto Pirelli : “ Vendiamo quello con cui corriamo , corriamo con quello che vendiamo “.
L ‘ ultimo progetto sul quale si è focalizzata l ’ attenzione di Pirelli è quello legato alla nuova soluzione di pneumatici SCQ per il posteriore , una gomma studiata per essere utilizzata nelle sessioni di qualifica così come nella Superpole Race di dieci giri . Andrà a sostituire completamente il precedente pneumatico da qualifica ( Q ), che da questa stagione non sarà più disponibile .
Questo riporta alla memoria la mescola SCX , che è stata introdotta nel 2019 . Da allora , grazie ai continui miglioramenti delle varie soluzioni SCX di Pirelli ed alla sempre maggiore capacità dei team di sfruttare le capacità di questo tipo di pneumatico , ha riscosso un notevole successo . Nella stagione 2021 la soluzione SCX è stata utilizzata dalla maggior parte dei piloti in griglia nella maggior parte dei circuiti nelle gare di lunga durata .
Con le ultime soluzioni SCQ Pirelli intende offrire qualcosa di nuovo e con prestazioni ancora superiori . L ‘ azienda non ha riposato durante la pausa invernale . È stato un duro lavoro produrre diverse specifiche dello pneumatico SCQ che sono state poi testate nei test invernali , a Portimao e a Jerez , dalla maggior parte dei team .
PIRELLI
The first official SCQ specification made its debut at the opening WorldSBK round at MotorLand Aragon . The SCQ will stay for the first European races in the spring , with the intention to further improve the solution in view of the warmer summer months , around the WorldSBK weekend at Misano .
Pirelli ha raccolto tutti i feedback dei piloti durante i test invernali ed ha lavorato duramente per mettere a punto la soluzione SCQ in tempo per l ‘ inizio della stagione 2022 .
La prima specifica ufficiale SCQ ha quindi fatto il proprio debutto nel round di apertura del WorldSBK al MotorLand Aragon . Rimarrà disponibile nelle prime gare europee in primavera , con l ‘ obiettivo di migliorare ulteriormente la soluzione in vista dei mesi estivi più caldi , probabilmente nel weekend del WorldSBK a Misano .
