EXCITING CONTENT as a consequence of the global financial crisis . The future for the entire facility looked bleak . It has been a remarkable rebirth for Donington , owned by the same Wheatcroft family as before but now under the operating influence of circuit rights holders , MSV . They are , of course , the promoters of the BSB Championship and local promoters of the WorldSBK championship round this weekend . Safe in the knowledge that it has a long term Donington lease , MSV has continued the investment in the reborn circuit and if we are fortunate enough to have fans this weekend , they can make use of the main central area around the Garage 39 Cafe that is the hub of a wheel of activity . With the real garages just over to one side , the Melbourne loop in front , the hospitality and motorhome area adjacent , and all the world passing through the centre . A better fan experience than ever - and that is before we get to the natural bowl that hosts the track itself , allowing the fans to see most of the action around the track , from Redgate to Coppice . And then there is the noisy intimacy and passing opportunities of the hardbraking zone , chicane , brake , hairpin , brake , hairpin start line sprint section that characterises the Melbourne Loop . Can you get much closer to full FIM World Championship short circuit race machines than the exit of the Melbourne Hairpin ? Maybe , but I can ’ t think where … WorldSBK ’ s ‘ Mother Circuit ’ is set for another belting weekend of racing
The Melbourne loop , the scene of many exciting passes and simple mistakes that have determined race wins and even championship outcomes .
