French oil giant Motul continues its welcome title sponsorship of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship this season , as it has done since 2016 . In a new initiative it has also added the iconic Team HRC factory squad to its list of direct sporting and technical partners .
Motul is one of those brands that is synonyms with motorsport , and not simply because it is an oil supplier and racing engines need quality lubrication products more than any others . After recent mutual on-track successes for both the biggest Japanese motorcycle manufacturer of all Motul the company has enhanced its already significant WorldSBK presence by becoming the Official Lubricant Partner of Team HRC .
New histories are being made by Motul even now but the story of the company itself is a long one , reaching back fully 150 years . Back in 1971 Motul was the first manufacturer to create a fully synthetic lubricant , utilising its expertise in esters technology . of this partnership has resulted in multiple victories in many different championships , most notably three wins for HRC at the Dakar Rally – the first being in 1989 and the most recent being this year , 2021 . It has also led to several championship titles with Team HRC in MXGP including 2019 and 2020 in the hands of their super-dominant star rider Tim Gajser .
