“ I will say it to any upcoming parent - you might think you know what love is until you have kids . There is no better gift than that , in my opinion . 2013 was always magical for me , because I won the world championship and month later we had our first daughter , Millie . An incredible emotional rollercoaster that year was - but all highs ! Unfortunately I missed the birth of my second daughter , Mia , because we were racing in Sepang . Not even Europe ! But I am blessed , I have two fantastic daughters . It was difficult managing to start with and I would definitely say you have to have a partner or wife that is willing to help out . You certainly have to have a lot of support from Mummy , so to speak . Otherwise you will not be able to be physically prepared and most likely mentally prepared either . You need an extreme amount of physical fitness and mental clarity of you want to be world champion . For me , my situation is different , because I am divorced , so when I am back , I generally pick up my girls on a Monday evening or Tuesday evening , depending on my flight availability and I generally have my girls until I am away for the next event . Obviously now the girls are at school so it is easy to manage training , etc , because you are basically free from nine until three . That is my window for ‘ business-related interests ’. Then from three until seven-thirty I get quality time with my girls and then again at the weekend . When I am back , if I not doing my job I am spending time with my family . If time is tight that ’ s when the girls ’ grandma , my Mum , will come and assist me . In this period I also have an incredible partner who gives my girls so much time and affection anyway . I think we have a good balance . When I am home , I am home . I can spend quality time with my children . And after Navarra , because of all the travel things , PCR tests etc , I asked my Mum if she could collect the girls and bring them out on holiday to Spain . I literally dropped the girls and my Mum back to the airport one day before Magny Cours . We had five days in this amazing villa in Altea , in the south of Spain . We had an amazing time . Then went for four nights up to Tarragona area , in PortAventura - a theme park . The girls loved it !”
