Great cyclist . It was a bit of a Godsend really to meet him . I met him in the middle of the canyons . Ended up we lived on the same street in the end , in California near Thousand Oaks , West Lake , Malibu area . So , we ’ d go ( cycling ) every day and he would teach me . He is a performance coach for cycling , nutrition , everything . He went back to university to study nutrition for himself to improve . So he went back , he learned it all , then he tested it on himself , and then he figured it out for him what is best , for an athlete and what is better for a normal person . Your calorie intake for your average person in 2,500 calories . Who made that up ? That ’ s just a number base , but we all believe it . So , he was explaining this to me . I got his trust and belief that I ’ m a worker . That opened the door for him to teach me . We ’ re cycling , talking away . “ You should try this and this .” I would go back the next day , make it , try it , come back and work like that . I learned a lot , where now I understand for myself what I need as a professional athlete . The cycling side is what keeps me in tip top .” Redding believes he needs better food intake for the cycling that he takes very seriously , much more than racing motorcycles . He is actually more focused on his diet for that . “ My diet has changed quite a lot . I ’ m plant-based / vegan . But on the same hand , I ’ m not super strict because I have to travel a lot . When I have to travel a lot , I can ’ t be in a situation where I go , “ I can ’ t have that because it ’ s got egg in it .” Otherwise I need to have just crisps ! So , I need to be flexible but I base myself on a vegan diet .”
