As nostalgic as it feels while I’m typing this out, there
are certainly a few petty things that I do not miss
about university. First, it was having to walk daily on
that bridge across the stinky river/drain from the car
park. The other, was the freezing AC indoors which
often led me to sit outdoors in the cafeteria, only to
end up smelling ‘fried up’ after 10 minutes. Foreign Language (TEFL). The English language and
International Studies don’t differ much from what I
have realised. My current students come from different
parts of the world, and many walks of life. Being a
TEFL teacher, I realised that I could continue learning
about others and their cultures, but this time, through
the eyes of my students.
Being part of SASS awarded me with a perspective –
a perspective that had let me feel comfortable in my
own skin. I gained true friends who appreciate me the
way I am. Monash taught me how to be an effective
planner (you know, with the deadlines). Professionally,
I ended up in the direction of Teaching English as a Sashi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Global),
majoring in International Studies in 2012. She currently
works as a TEFL teacher.
