Looking back to when many of us attended the Deaf Studies Today! Conference in Utah (April 2014), a lot
of good things have happened, including this first official newsletter for the newly formed professional
organization, Society for American Sign Language. I thank all of you who have joined as a member, currently
over 100 strong! While I have had the desire to establish an organization like this for some time, it was not until
I attended the conference in Utah that I was able to share the idea with people like you. Once I was able to
establish a relationship with the 30 people who joined me for a meeting
