Blue Mosque , Istanbul
A historic mosque in Istanbul called
the Sulthanahmet Camil or better known as
the blue mosque because of its interior design
that is blue. The mosque was built between
1609 and 1616 during the reign of Ahmed I.
Like the other mosques, inside the mosque
itself was the founder’s grave, a madrasah
and a hospice. In addition to its utmost use
as a place of worship, the mosque is also a
popular tourist attraction in Istanbul.
This mosque is an active mosque,
so it will be temporarily shut down to non-
Muslims for half an hour in prayer time to
give way for Muslims to pray.
Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Brunei
Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital city
of Brunei, and witnessed the majestic mosque
of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin. It was named
after the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin, which
was the 28 Sultan of Brunei. The construction
was began in 1954 and completed in 1958
and remain as the symbol of modern Islamic
heritage in Brunei until today. The mosque

unites the architectural design of Mughal
styles and Malay styles.
Uniquely, it was built in an artificial
lagoon on the banks of the Brunei River at
Kampong Ayer, the mosque has marble
minarets and golden domes, a courtyard and
is surrounded by a large number of trees and
floral garden.
