In this era of globalization , with the existence of ‘ The Internet ’ every little thing is at our fingertips . Just a simple click you will find what you need to know by inserting keywords into the search engine . Internet allows everyone to stay connected with current issues , news , knowledge and people from all over the world . The big world just seems like a small village and this is what Marshall McLuhan meant with his ‘ global village ’ phrase .
However , the Internet provides you with a bunch of information with no restrictions . Anyone in the world can have access to what that they want to know . There will be no gatekeeper filtering or preventing you from posting or sharing updates that you want to share or upload .
Every internet users are gatekeepers to themselves . When too much freedom somehow it
can be dangerous because any violation or manipulation of news , facts and information can occur . So , some countries take the precaution steps to restrict , block and control any online activities that contains any sensitive issues , threats to governments , and violation of user rights , national law and cultures .
In 2016 , Malaysia ranked 74th when it came to the internet speed and ranked 9th out of 15th countries in the Asia Pacific region . However , the internet speed in Malaysia is still slow and many users were complaining due to the insufficient internet service .
The Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission ( MCMC ) will have to do some improvements in improving broadband coverage and quality , aiming to achieve 20 Mbps throughout the country .
