A Promised Rainbow with a Destiny ATTACHED

In her teenage years, Chef Roshara Sanders aka “Chef Ro”developed a passion for cooking which was fostered by the bond she shared with her mother. Her pot of gold at the end of the rainbow was her predestined fate to become one of the world’s renowned culinary chefs. The cost of tuition for the Culinary Institute of America is the hurdle she would have to clear in order to make her dreams a reality.

Having been raised by a single mother in a house built by Habitat for Humanity, it was perseverance, drive and commitment that prompted her to join the Army. While in the army, she served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was able to cross train as a food supply specialist when she returned stateside. It was the GI Bill that eventually paid for her culinary education. In addition to holding multiple medals as a decorated servicewoman in the military, she was also a finalist on Food Network’s wildly successful show Chopped. Chef Sanders has shown an unwavering dedication to her country as well as communities worldwide. She signed on to be a celebrity ambassador with Habitat for Humanity having raised money for their Global Village Initiative. It has been her passion for food that led her on the rainbow road to servicing those in need.

Chef Sanders’ culinary creations for 500 soldiers while on deployment could have been a temporary morale booster for it probably reminded them of the essence of home or someone they loved dearly. Smelling the aroma of food creates a moment in time to be remembered by loved ones. It can fill a void in a soldier’s heart while he or she is in the daily battle for survival. Chef Roshara Sanders’ career path of selflessness is dripping in inspiration and her story needs to be heard by the masses.
