Q: Is it safe to say that at the age of 7 years old, you would be considered a prodigy? Who taught you how to play the piano?

A. R. Garcia : I was absolutely not a prodigy. My mother wanted me to learn how to play the piano so she enrolled me in some classes that were being offered in the grammar school I attended. I instantly loved it. I practiced every day for three hours. Eventually I became a classically trained pianist. It was a lot of hard work. I attribute any success I have more to my work ethic than I do talent.

Q: Our readers like to get to know their favorite celebrities on more of a personal level. Therefore, we would like to know more about you. Choose five powerful? words that will always identify your personality and why?

A. R. Garcia : Intelligent: I think it is important to exercise the mind. Without it there is nothing. Funny: Humor is the antidote of pain. I love to laugh and make others laugh.

Sarcastic: I’m a writer so obviously sarcasm is a big way in which I express myself.

Passionate: I don’t know any other way than to be all in when I love something or someone. It literally takes over my whole life.

Family Man: I am a father. I am a son. Those two things are who I am before I am a writer.

Q: Do you have a mentor and if not, who in the entertainment industry do you look up to?

A. R. Garcia: I do have mentors. I have been fortunate to have two. Just simple human beings that care about me as a person

and my health as much as they care about my career.

Q: We learned that you attended Elizabeth High school in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Is this where you began the journey as a playwright? And why?

A. R.. Garcia: No, actually I didn’t know I wanted to be a playwright until a little later on in life. I knew I wanted to write just not in what capacity. What I didn’t realize on this journey was that I would be more than just a writer.

That I would be a creator of content and more. That I would create content, a production company, a space in which people of color could be a part of something in the arts greater than themselves, a family through art and a level of awareness.

Q: You are a screenwriter, playwright, actor and producer. You have been very successful over the years. Take our audience back to when you were co- starring in Saint Nicholas?

A R. Garcia :That was a very unique experience for me. And it is tied in with two firsts. Before Saint Nicholas was a film, it was an Off-Broadway show called, I Love Them All. It was my first one man show that I wrote and performed myself. It was the very first time I had ever acted. I had signed up to the ONE Festival and due to the lack of time to find an actor my mentor suggested that I play the role. So, I did. I won the theater festival. Years later when I wanted to produce I Love Them All as full ensemble for theater I got the opportunity for it to be picked up as a film. Saint Nicholas would then be my first screenplay I ever wrote and my first feature film I had ever acted in. So needless to say it was a very special experience for me. You can watch Saint Nicholas on Amazon Prime as well!
