organizations that are talking about employee centricity are trying to differentiate themselves, their
objective is to provide benefits and better service for
the organization. But in an ever changing environment, organizations would prefer to build their strategy based on employee strengths. By following
some practices they might try to attract unique employees and provide work environments that others
cannot offer. Gradually a strategy is developed
around the competencies of the employees. It is
hence possible to have unique, well differentiated
and non-imitable core competency coming out of
people.
In the past employee loyalty used to be very
high, but things have changed a lot and employee retention has become a crucial factor.
Also some cultures or countries experience
higher degree of employee loyalty. How
should the organization adapt itself?
As environment is
becoming more and
more uncertain, one of
the critical aspect is
adaptability of an
organization.
Addressing the second question first, organization’s
primary focus should be on the context in which it is
operating. What is going to be the host culture, respective to that one has to formulate its strategies.
Now coming to low employee loyalty, not only in
India but also in many other countries the concept of
organization man (employee who joins a firm and
stays with it till retirement) is getting diluted over a
period of time. Today people are looking at better
opportunities, the greatest challenge is to have better
expectation management. Expectation management
needs to look at both employee and organization’s
perspective. Even while recruiting a person, organization should be very sure of the tenure of commitment with the person. If a person is chosen with a
long term perspective in mind, then appropriate career path needs to provided and the person should be )
